Stewardship That Strengthens Recovery: How the Kerrville Host Lions Club Foundation is Stewarding Donations to Help Families Rebuild While Strengthening Community
When a community experiences devastation like the recent Kerr County flooding, the desire to see every dollar of relief make a real difference is heartfelt and understandable. Neighbors are hurting, and everyone wants to be sure support goes where it matters mostโhelping families and the communities in which they live recover.
The Kerrville Host Lions Club Foundation shares that same commitment. Since the first days after the flood, the Foundation has taken a thoughtful approach: ensuring that donated, restricted flood-relief funds are carefully directed to organizations with the experience, volunteers, and resources to provide hands-on help to those in need. By working through trusted partners, the Foundation helps dollars stretch further and reach people faster.

A great example is the Foundationโs $25,000 grant to Somebody Cares, a nonprofit with boots on the ground in Kerr County. These funds were used directly within the Bumble-Bee -Hills Housing Addition along the Guadalupe River near Hunt, Texasโone of the hardest-hit areas. There, families faced the daunting task of mucking out, cleaning up, and rebuilding their flood-damaged homes. Through this grant, Somebody Cares was able to mobilize crews and volunteers to bring real relief, turning donations into cleared debris, repaired walls, and renewed hope for residents.
This collaborative model also helps amplify the efforts of first responders, faith groups, and volunteer teams who are already deeply engaged in recovery. Rather than duplicating services, the Foundation is strengthening themโmaking sure resources flow where they are needed most.
The heart of the Kerrville Host Lions Club Foundation has always been service. In this moment of challenge, that service looks like stewardship: guiding relief dollars into the hands of partners who can turn them into meals served, debris cleared, homes restored, and communities rebuilt.
Donors and community members can take pride in knowing that their gifts are being handled with care and purpose. Together, with compassion and accountability, we are not just responding to a floodโwe are helping families rebuild their homes and their hope.
